Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client to Accountable's MCP server. Your agent can categorize, post entries and prepare the close, and every change is logged and can be undone.
Claude
Add Accountable as a custom connector with the server URL from Settings › Connected agents. Sign in, then pick the companies Claude may see.
ChatGPT
Add the same server URL in ChatGPT's developer mode. You sign in to Accountable and choose the companies on one consent page.
Cursor
Add the server URL to Cursor's MCP settings and sign in, or paste an access token you create in Settings › Connected agents.
Any MCP client
Any client that speaks Streamable HTTP connects with OAuth, or with a personal access token that is read-only or read and write for the companies you pick.

“Put the three Figma charges under Software.”
categorize_transactions previews every field before and after, then applies the change once. It is logged under the agent's name and your connection, and you can undo it.
“What are our burn and runway this month?”
get_metrics returns cash, net burn, gross burn and runway, each with the sentence that explains how it was computed, and warns you when a bank feed is stale.
“Book the $12,000 legal bill we owe for September.”
create_journal_entry previews the balanced lines. By default, an agent's entry of $500 or more waits in Approvals, and one of $5,000 or more needs an owner. It posts when a person approves it.
“Can we close August?”
get_close_checklist lists what is still open, such as an unreconciled card. When nothing is, propose_close sends the close to Approvals, and a person locks the month.
“Draft the September investor update.”
get_investor_update returns the update saved in Accountable and the metrics it quotes, and get_report adds any statement. The agent drafts from those numbers; you send it from the app.
“Undo what you changed this morning.”
get_audit_log lists each change, and undo_change previews every restoration before it applies. Undoing an entry posts a reversal, which waits for a person by default.
Agents work under your rules.
By default, entries of $500 or more, rules that change past transactions, bulk changes, deletions, chart edits and closing a month wait in Approvals. No tool can approve, so an agent never approves its own change. The audit log names the agent, the app it ran in, the person whose connection it used and who approved it. Any change can be undone, and a repeated request never posts twice. At sign-in you choose which companies the agent may read and write. Closed months stay closed. Revoke a connection in Settings, and its next call is refused.

Questions about agents
Which plan do I need?
Agents can read on every plan, including Free. Writing needs Pro, at $149 a month for 2 companies, or Holding. Every new workspace gets a 14-day Pro trial with no card.
Can the agent move money or send anything?
The agent keeps the books and nothing else. Moving money, approving work, managing people, changing approval rules and sending anything outside the company stay with people in the app.
Can the agent change a closed month?
A closed month changes only after a person reopens it. An agent can ask to reopen a month, and that request always waits for an owner.
What if the agent retries after a timeout?
The retry returns the first answer, marked as a replay, and nothing posts twice.
Does the agent need to learn bookkeeping first?
The server ships short guides the agent loads when it needs them, such as how to close a month, reconcile an account or undo a change. Each guide's worked example is tested against real books.
