Connect Slack to your books: one-tap answers and a weekly digest
Connect Slack in Accountable under Settings › Slack, press Add to Slack, approve the app and pick a channel. On Mondays at 9 AM the week's bookkeeping questions post one group per message, and anyone you have linked taps the category, or Something else. Each answer applies with that person's own Accountable role, so a tap never lets someone do more than their role allows.

A question in Slack is one tap, and a tap is the person's own change
Each message is one group of questions. Tap the category, or Something else, and Accountable applies your answer. The first time, Slack asks you to link your Accountable account; after that your answers apply as you, with your own role, and the activity log shows who answered.

How to connect Slack in five steps
Step 1: Open Settings › Slack and press Add to Slack. Approve the app in Slack.
Step 2: Pick the Channel.
Step 3: Under Where each kind of post goes, choose where questions, approval cards, month-closed posts, feed alerts and answers go.
Step 4: On Monday at 9 AM, questions post one group per message. Tap the category, or Something else.
Step 5: The first time, Slack asks you to link your Accountable account. After that your answers apply as you.

Approval rules and roles decide what a Slack answer can do
Slack is another way to reach the same books, so the same rules apply. By default, changes under $500 apply at once and changes over $5,000 need an owner, and an owner can change both limits under Approvals › Rules. Nobody approves their own change, and owners can always approve.
Because each answer applies as the person who tapped, a teammate with a limited role cannot do more in Slack than they can in the app.
Slack's own admin rules decide who can install the app
By default any member of a Slack workspace can install an app, and a workspace owner can turn on app approval so that members need an admin's authorization first. If your workspace requires approval, the install becomes a request to your Slack admin.

Does answering in Slack change my books?
Yes. A tap categorizes the matching transactions as you, with your own role, and the change shows in Activity and can be undone like any other change.
Can a teammate without an Accountable role answer?
No. Each person links their own Accountable account the first time, and what a tap can do depends on that account's role in the company.
When do the questions post?
On Mondays at 9 AM, one group per message. The same questions also wait on Transactions › Needs review.
Can I pick the channel for each kind of post?
Yes. Under Where each kind of post goes you choose where questions, approval cards, month-closed posts, feed alerts and answers go.
