Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy is part of the Accountable Terms of Service. Capitalized terms have the meanings given to them in the Terms of Service. It applies to you, your Authorized Users and any Connected Agent you authorize.

Don't misuse the Services

You agree not to misuse the Services or help anyone else to do so. For example, you must not do (or try to do) any of the following in connection with the Services:

• use the Services (a) to violate any law or regulation, including those governing tax, export control, sanctions, consumer protection, unfair competition, anti-discrimination, securities or false advertising, or (b) to keep books for, record or conceal money laundering, fraud, tax evasion, terrorist financing, sanctions evasion, or transactions in counterfeit or stolen goods, illegal or controlled substances, illegal gambling, or the unlicensed sale of firearms;
• create false or misleading books or records, or use the Services to prepare financial statements, reports or documents that you know to be false, in order to deceive a lender, investor, auditor, tax authority or anyone else;
• use the Services for personal, family or household purposes;
• abuse the Trial, referrals or promotions, for example by creating many workspaces to avoid plan limits;
• resell, sublicense or provide the Services to third parties, except that accountants and bookkeepers may use the Services to keep the books of their clients' companies as those companies' Authorized Users;
• harass or abuse Accountable's personnel or AI support agent, or anyone you send an invoice, W-9 request or other message to through the Services; or
• misrepresent Accountable's personnel as your employee, officer, signatory, agent or fiduciary, or ask them to act as one.

Don't break or probe the Services

Except as expressly authorized in the Terms of Service or our Vulnerability Disclosure Policy, you must not:

• access, tamper with or use non-public areas of the Services, or any company or workspace you have not been invited to;
• probe, scan or test the vulnerability of any system or network, or breach or circumvent any security, authentication, rate-limit or plan-limit measure;
• derive the source code of the Services, or use tools to observe their internal operation;
• copy, modify, frame or mirror the Services or any part of them, or make derivative works of them;
• interfere with or disrupt the Services, other customers' use of them, or the networks and services connected to them, including by sending traffic that places an unreasonable load on them; or
• use the Services to send spam or unsolicited messages in violation of law, to send or store material that infringes or violates the rights of others, or to send or store viruses, worms, Trojan horses or other harmful code.

Use AI features and connected agents responsibly

• Don't use AI Features or Connected Agents to generate content that violates the law, others' rights, or the usage policies of our AI Providers.
• Don't try to extract our system instructions, bypass safeguards, or trick an AI Feature or Connected Agent into acting outside the permissions you have (for example, by prompt injection placed in documents, memos or messages).
• Don't use the Services, or the output of AI Features, to build or train a competing product or AI model.
• Keep the Connected Agents you authorize under control: grant only the scopes they need, revoke authorizations you no longer use, and don't share OAuth tokens or API keys outside your organization.
• Don't let a Connected Agent make high-volume automated requests beyond the published rate limits, or use it to scrape Accountable's content other than your own Customer Data.

Don't put data in the Services that doesn't belong there

• Don't upload protected health information subject to HIPAA, payment card numbers, or passwords to other services, except where the Services ask for a credential in a field made for it (such as connecting a bank).
• Don't upload personal information you don't have the right to process, and give people any notice the law requires when you send them requests through the Services (for example, a W-9 request).

What happens if someone breaks this policy

You may not knowingly facilitate or aid a third party in any of these activities. If we reasonably believe that you, an Authorized User or a Connected Agent has violated this policy, we may remove content, revoke a Connected Agent's access, limit or suspend the account, or terminate the Terms of Service, as described in the Terms of Service. We will tell you what happened and how to fix it, unless the law or a security reason prevents us. Suspension never deletes your books.
