Stripe payout reconciler: turn a payout report into journal entries
Upload the Itemized CSV from Stripe's Payout reconciliation report and get one balanced journal entry per payout: the deposit to your bank, charges as revenue, refunds, chargebacks and Stripe's fees. The file is read in your browser and never leaves it. In the sample below, $1,798 of charges less a $99 refund, a $49 chargeback and $80.44 of fees reaches the bank as a $1,569.56 payout.

How it's calculated
- In Stripe, open Reports › Payout reconciliation, pick dates that include the payout's arrival date, and download the Itemized CSV. A balance transactions export works too.
- Each row's reporting category decides its account: charges to revenue, refunds to refunds, disputes to chargebacks, and Stripe fees to processing fees. Anything else goes to a clearing line to review.
- Positive gross amounts are credits and negative ones debits. Every fee is a debit to processing fees, and the payout (the sum of every row's net) is the debit to your bank.
- Rows are grouped by payout, so a report with ten payouts gives ten entries, each matching one bank deposit. Download them as a CSV to import.
Questions founders ask
Why doesn't my Stripe payout match my revenue?
A payout is revenue minus refunds, chargebacks and Stripe's fees, and it can include days from before or after the month. Booking the gross and the fees separately makes the deposit match the bank and keeps revenue whole.
Is my Stripe file uploaded anywhere?
No. The page reads the file with your browser's own file reader and works it out on your device. Nothing is sent to Accountable or anyone else.
Which Stripe report should I download?
The Itemized CSV from Reports › Payout reconciliation, which lists every transaction in each automatic payout. Stripe says it needs automatic payouts; with manual payouts, use the balance report instead.
Should I book revenue from Stripe payouts?
Book gross charges as revenue and fees as an expense, as this tool does. For annual plans paid up front, move the unearned part to deferred revenue; see the deferred revenue guide.
