Accounting software for Brex: every card transaction posted and matched
Accountable connects to Brex with a read-only user token you create in Brex under Developer › Settings. Card transactions start posting within minutes, each one categorized with its reason, and each month is matched to Brex's statement to the cent. The token can read transactions, accounts and statements but cannot spend or move money. Brex connects free on every plan, including Free.

The short version
- Brex connects directly with a read-only user token, free on every plan, including Free, and it does not count toward any bank-link limit.
- Every Brex card transaction posts with its date, amount, merchant and description, and is categorized with the reason shown.
- A payment from your bank to your Brex card is booked as a transfer, never as spending.
- The token gets only read scopes for transactions, accounts and statements, and Brex expires a token that goes 90 days without use.
- If the Brex business (cash) account does not come through the token, you upload its statements and they match to the cent like any other month.
What comes over from Brex
- Every card transaction, with its date, amount, merchant and Brex's own description, posted as it clears.
- The cash transactions of a Brex business account, when your token has the cash scopes and Brex returns the account.
- Accounts and statements, so each month can be matched to Brex's own statement before it is locked.
How Brex card spend is booked
Each Brex transaction is named in plain words and filed under a category, with the reason shown. When the AI is not sure, it asks you one short question instead of guessing, and a rule you tick once, "Always do this for the vendor", applies to every future charge from that vendor.

How to connect Brex in six steps

Step 2: Sign in at dashboard.brex.com and go to Developer › Settings. Accept the developer terms if Brex asks. You need to be an account admin or card admin.
Step 3: Click Create Token and name it Accountable.
Step 4: Give it read-only access to Transactions, Accounts and Statements, for cards and, if you use a Brex business account, for cash. Leave everything that writes off.
Step 5: Click Allow Access and copy the token. It starts with
bxt_and Brex shows it only once.Step 6: Back in Accountable, paste it into User token and press Connect.
The step-by-step help article is Connect Brex with a read-only user token.
The Brex token reads six things and writes nothing
For cards, the read-only scopes are transactions.card.readonly, accounts.card.readonly and statements.card.readonly. For a Brex business account, the matching cash scopes are transactions.cash.readonly, accounts.cash.readonly and statements.cash.readonly. Brex says a user token expires if it is not used to make an API call for 90 days. Accountable syncs every day, so the token stays in use.
If someone deletes the token in Brex, the connection shows Broken. Create a new read-only token and press Reconnect; nothing already posted changes.
If the Brex business account does not appear, upload its statements
When the Brex business (cash) account does not come through the token, open Connections › Import file and upload its statements. Brex CSV exports are recognized without column mapping, duplicates are skipped, and the closing balance is checked against the statement.
Upload one statement a month for any account without a live feed, so every month can be matched to the bank before it closes.
Questions founders ask
Is connecting Brex free?
Yes. Mercury, Brex, Ramp and Stripe connect directly on every plan, including Free, and do not count toward the bank-link limit. Other banks linked through Stripe, Plaid or Teller count toward it.
Can Accountable spend or move money on my Brex account?
No. You give the token read-only access to transactions, accounts and statements, and leave every scope that writes off.
Does it work with several companies?
Yes. Connect each company's own Brex login to that company; every feed belongs to one company, and each company's books stay separate.
How fast do Brex transactions show up?
New transactions post within minutes of reaching the feed. Connections shows each account's last sync and flags a balance that does not match Brex.
