Accounting software for Ramp: every card transaction matched
Accountable connects to Ramp through an API app you create in Ramp's Developer settings, with the client credentials grant and three read scopes: transactions, business and statements. Paste the client ID and secret and every Ramp card transaction posts within minutes, categorized with its reason and matched to the statement. Nothing in the app can write to Ramp. Ramp connects free on every plan.

The short version
- Ramp connects directly with an API app you create yourself, free on every plan, including Free.
- The app gets three read scopes,
transactions:read, business:readandstatements:read, and nothing that writes. - Ramp's access tokens last 10 days, and Accountable gets a new one automatically with your app's keys.
- Every card transaction is categorized with the reason shown, and a payment from your bank to the card is booked as a transfer.
- The Ramp business account is not in Ramp's API yet, so its statements are uploaded each month.
What comes over from Ramp
- Every Ramp card transaction, with its date, amount, merchant and description, posted as it clears.
- Business details and statements, under the
business:readandstatements:readscopes, so each month can be matched to Ramp's own statement before it is locked.
How Ramp card spend is booked
Each Ramp transaction is named in plain words and filed under a category, with the reason shown. A question the AI cannot answer with confidence comes to you as one short question, and ticking "Always do this for the vendor" turns your answer into a rule.
| In Ramp | In Accountable | Category |
|---|---|---|
| FIGMA MONTHLY | Figma | Software |
| AWS EMEA SARL | Amazon Web Services | Hosting and Infrastructure |
| LINKEDIN ADS 88213 | Advertising | |
| Ramp card payment from Mercury | Payment to the Ramp card | Transfer, not spending |
The transfer is paired with the matching payment from your bank, so the card's balance and your bank balance both stay right and burn counts each charge once.

Ramp's 10-day tokens renew on their own
Ramp's access tokens last 10 days. Accountable holds your app's client ID and secret and asks Ramp for a new token when it needs one, so nobody has to paste anything again. If the app's keys stop working, for example because the app was deleted in Ramp, the connection shows Broken; create the app again and press Reconnect, and nothing already posted changes.
The Ramp business account comes in as a monthly statement upload
The Ramp business account is not in Ramp's API yet. Open Connections › Import file each month and upload its statement: Ramp CSV exports are recognized without mapping, duplicates are skipped and the closing balance is checked, so the month still matches the bank to the cent.
Questions founders ask
Is connecting Ramp free?
Yes. Ramp connects directly on every plan, including Free, and does not count toward the bank-link limit that applies to other banks linked through Stripe, Plaid or Teller.
Can Accountable spend or move money on Ramp?
No. The app you create has only three read scopes, transactions:read, business:read and statements:read.
Why does Ramp need my own API app?
Ramp's Developer API works through apps that an admin creates with client credentials. You create one named Accountable, choose its scopes and can delete it at any time.
Does it work with several companies?
Yes. Connect each company's own Ramp keys to that company; every feed belongs to one company and each company's books stay separate.
Connect Ramp and get your books done by the 1st
Start free with one company. Ramp connects in minutes with your own read-only app, and last month is matched to Ramp's statement and closed by the 1st.
