Post a journal entry

Open Accounting › Ledger › Journal entries and press New entry. Debits must equal credits before you can post, and every entry can be reversed or undone.

In Accountable: Accounting › LedgerUpdated September 29, 2026

Steps

  1. Step 1: Open Accounting in the sidebar, then Journal entries, and press New entry.

  2. Step 2: Set the Date and a Memo.

  3. Step 3: Add account lines with a Debit or Credit on each. Press Add line for more.

  4. Step 4: Tick Reverse this entry on a later date for an accrual that should undo itself. Attach files if you have backup.

  5. Step 5: When it says Balanced, press Review, then Post (or Send for approval if your rules need one).

Fix a posted entry

Open the entry and press Edit, then Post correction: Accountable reverses the old entry and posts the new one, so history stays intact. Or press Reverse to cancel it.
