Set up your company

Each legal entity is one company in Accountable. Give it a name, country, entity type, the currency its books are kept in, and cash or accrual basis.

Steps

  1. Step 1: After you sign up, you land on Set up your company. For a second company, press ⌘K and choose Add or move a company.

  2. Step 2: Type the Company name. It is filled in from your email's domain; change it if it's wrong.

  3. Step 3: Pick the Country and the Entity type.

  4. Step 4: Pick Books kept in: the currency of the company's own bank account and tax returns. It is fixed once the books have entries.

  5. Step 5: Pick the Reporting basis, Accrual or Cash. You can switch any time; Accountable keeps both.

  6. Step 6: Press Continue. Next you choose whether to move your old books or start fresh.

Good to know

  • One company per legal entity: an LLC and its parent are two companies, each with its own books.
  • You can change the name, fiscal year start and timezone later in Settings › Company.
