Connect ChatGPT to your books, with every change logged and undoable
In ChatGPT, turn on Developer mode, create a connector with the URL https://accountable.im/mcp and OAuth, then sign in to Accountable, pick the companies and press Allow. ChatGPT reads your books on every plan and, on Pro or Holding, can categorize and post entries. Changes of $5,000 or more and reopening a closed month wait for an owner, and every change is logged and can be undone.

How to connect ChatGPT in four steps
Step 1: In ChatGPT's settings, turn on Developer mode. OpenAI's guide puts it under Settings › Security and login; menu names change, so follow OpenAI's developer mode guide if yours differ.
Step 2: Create a connector for a remote MCP server with the URL
https://accountable.im/mcpand OAuth authentication. Copy the Server URL from Settings › AI and agents in Accountable if you prefer.Step 3: Accountable's sign-in page opens. Pick Which companies: All my companies, or Only these. Under What it can do, pick Guardrails (the default), Full control or Read only, and press Allow.
Step 4: In a new chat, add the Accountable connector and ask about your books.

Two separate approvals protect a write: ChatGPT's and Accountable's
OpenAI warns that incorrect write actions can destroy, alter or share data, and requires you to confirm write actions by default in developer mode. Accountable adds its own layer behind that: by default, changes of $5,000 or more and reopening a closed month wait in Approvals until an owner approves, and no tool can approve, so ChatGPT can never approve its own change.
Everything else applies at once, is logged under ChatGPT via your connection, and can be undone from Activity. A closed month changes only after a person reopens it.

Choose what ChatGPT may do when you connect
The consent screen offers Guardrails (the default), Full control and Read only, and Settings › AI and agents adds a fourth, Every change waits for approval. An agent can never do more than the person who connected it. To disconnect, click the connection, press Revoke and confirm with Revoke access; its next call is refused. The levels are explained here.

Which ChatGPT plans can use it?

Will ChatGPT change my books without asking?
OpenAI asks you to confirm write actions by default. Beyond that, Accountable applies small changes at once, holds entries of $5,000 or more and reopening a month for an owner, and logs everything.
Can ChatGPT move money?
No. The agent keeps the books and nothing else. Moving money, approving work and sending anything outside the company stay with people in the app.
Can I use a token instead of OAuth?
Yes, for clients without sign-in: create a personal access token in Settings › AI and agents and send it as a Bearer token to the MCP URL. Clients that support OAuth open Accountable's sign-in page instead.
