Connect Claude to your books, with approval for big changes
Add https://accountable.im/mcp to Claude as a custom connector, sign in to Accountable, pick the companies Claude may see and press Allow. Claude then answers from your real books and, on Pro or Holding, categorizes and posts entries. Changes of $5,000 or more and reopening a closed month wait for an owner; everything else applies at once, is logged under Claude and your name, and can be undone.

The short version

What Claude can do with your books
- Answer questions from the real numbers, such as "What did we spend on software last quarter?" or "What are our burn and runway this month?".
- Categorize transactions, for example "Put the three Figma charges under Software".
- Post journal entries, for example the $12,000 legal bill you owe for September, which waits for an owner because it is $5,000 or more.
- Check whether a month can close, and undo what it changed this morning.
How to connect Claude in five steps
Step 1: In Accountable, open Settings › AI and agents and copy the Server URL:
https://accountable.im/mcp.Step 2: In Claude, open Connectors and choose Add custom connector. Claude's own guide puts it under Customize › Connectors.
Step 3: Paste the Server URL and choose Add. Accountable's sign-in page opens; sign in if you are not already.
Step 4: On the consent screen, pick Which companies: All my companies, or Only these. Under What it can do, pick Guardrails (the default), Full control or Read only, and press Allow.
Step 5: Back in Claude, turn the Accountable connector on in a chat and ask about your books.

Guardrails applies small changes at once and holds the big ones for an owner
You choose what Claude may do on its own when you connect, and you can change it later by clicking the connection in Settings › AI and agents.

Every change Claude makes is logged, and most can be undone in one press
Activity names each change as Claude via your connection. Press Undo on any of them: Accountable reverses it and logs the undo too. A closed month stays closed until an owner reopens it, and an agent can ask to reopen a month but that request always waits for an owner.
Custom connectors are available in Claude on the Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans, and Claude's Free plan is limited to one custom connector. Writing in Accountable needs Pro or Holding, at $149 a month for 2 companies, and every new workspace gets a 14-day Pro trial with no card.
Questions founders ask
Can Claude change my books on the Free plan?
No. On Free, agents can read but not change anything. Writes need Pro or Holding.
Can Claude move money or send email?
No. The agent keeps the books and nothing else. Moving money, approving work, managing people and sending anything outside the company stay with people in the app.
What if I connect Claude to the wrong companies?
Open Settings › AI and agents, click the connection and press Revoke, then connect again and pick the right companies. Its next call is refused as soon as you revoke.
Does it work in Claude Code?
Yes. Run claude mcp add --transport http accountable https://accountable.im/mcp, and Claude Code opens Accountable's sign-in page the first time it connects.
