How Accountable learns from your changes
Every time you change a category or answer a question, Accountable works out what it teaches and shows it under the change: Learned: Figma → Research and Development. It applies the lesson to past rows in open months and to every new payment, and one Undo takes it all back.
Steps
Step 1: Change a transaction's category in its side panel, or answer a question on Needs review.
Step 2: Read the line under the category, like Learned: Figma → Research and Development. Applied to 14 past rows in open months and every future one.
Step 3: Press Undo on that line (or in the toast) to take back the change, the lesson and every row it moved, all at once.
Step 4: Press Edit on that line to pick another category for the lesson.
Step 5: If the line says Kept as a one-off and you wanted Accountable to remember it, press Learn it anyway.
What a change can teach
- This vendor always goes here: the usual lesson, kept as the vendor's default category.
- This vendor above or below an amount: when the vendor's payments are two kinds, like a yearly plan against monthly seats, Accountable writes two rules with a round threshold.
- This bank text: when words in the bank text tell the payments apart, like GUSTO TAX against GUSTO NET, Accountable writes a rule on those words.
- A one-off: when you set the vendor's other payments yourself and nothing sets this one apart, Accountable learns nothing.
See, edit, pause or forget a lesson
Step 1: Open Settings › What Accountable learned.
Step 2: Each row shows the lesson, who taught it and when, and how many payments it has handled.
Step 3: Press Edit to pick another category, Pause to stop it for now, Resume to turn it back on, or Forget to remove it. Each shows Undo.
Good to know
- A lesson never moves a payment a person set by hand, and never changes a closed month. Rows in closed months are counted; press Ask an owner to send them for approval.
- When you change your mind, the latest change wins, and the line says what it replaced.
- Home shows how much ran on its own this month: handled by AI, asked you, and fixed by hand.
- Ask Accountable or your AI agent why a payment has its category, and it names the lesson, who taught it and the change it came from.
