Categorize transactions and answer review questions

Accountable categorizes every transaction with the reason. Fix one, make a rule, and answer the few questions only you can.

  1. How Accountable categorizes your transactionsEach transaction is categorized by a rule, by Accountable AI with how sure it is, by the bank or payroll feed, or by a person. The reason shows in the transaction's panel.
  2. Change a transaction's categoryClick the transaction, pick a new Category in its panel, and tick Always categorize this vendor this way if you want a rule. Changes in open months apply at once.
  3. Answer review questionsThe Needs review tab asks about the payments Accountable isn't sure of, grouped by vendor, one question at a time. One answer can categorize them all and make a rule.
  4. Create and edit categorization rulesA rule categorizes a vendor or bank text the same way every time. Create one on the Rules tab, preview what it changes, and apply it to past transactions if you want.
  5. Split a transaction across categoriesSplit one payment into several categories from its panel. The lines must add up to the payment before you can save.
  6. Categorize many transactions at onceSelect rows with their checkboxes, Shift-click or the Space key, then press Categorize or Mark reviewed in the bar that appears.
  7. Answer questions and get the weekly digest in SlackConnect Slack and pick a channel. Questions post on Mondays at 9 AM, anyone can answer with one tap, and the answer applies with their own role.
  8. Ask a teammate about a transactionLeave a comment on any transaction or month, @mention a teammate, and assign the thread to them. Resolve it when it's answered.
  9. Duplicate payments and unusual activity alertsAlerts flags duplicate charges, unusual amounts, new vendors and vendors paid to a new bank account. Mark each one a real problem or expected.
