When your accountant's firm pays for your plan

If your accounting firm pays for your company's plan, your Billing page names the firm. You can take the plan back at any time, and your books are never deleted if the firm stops paying.

In Accountable: Settings › Accountant firmUpdated September 30, 2026

Steps

  1. Step 1: When your firm offers to pay, open Settings › Company security › Accountant firm and press Accept.

  2. Step 2: If the firm hasn't added its card yet, you keep paying for your own plan until it does; then the plan moves to the firm and you get an email.

  3. Step 3: To pay for it yourself again, press Pay for it myself on the same page.

Good to know

  • If the firm's card is declined, nothing changes for you while Stripe retries.
  • If the firm stops paying, the company is read-only on Free until you pay for it yourself or the firm adds a card again. Nothing is deleted.
