Move your books from Digits
In Digits, download the ledger as CSV from the Ledger tab (or the Financial Package), then upload it to Accountable's move. Every month-end is checked against Digits' own numbers.
Before you start
- Download everything before your Digits plan ends: Digits access stops at the end of the billing period.
Steps
Step 1: In Digits, open the Ledger tab.
Step 2: Set the date range to cover your whole history.
Step 3: Click the ⋯ menu at the top right and choose Download CSV.
Step 4: For the month-end proof, also go to Financials › Statements, click Download Financial Package, tick Ledger, Trial Balance, Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet, and download it.
Step 5: For the chart of accounts, go to Categories › ⋯ › Download CSV.
Step 6: In Accountable, press ⌘K and choose Move books from Digits, QuickBooks or a spreadsheet. Pick Move my books, choose Digits under From and press Continue.
Step 7: On Bring your old books, drop the file on Drop your general ledger here, or choose a file. Add the chart of accounts and bank statements too if you have them.
Step 8: Press Start the move. You can leave the page; the move keeps going.
Step 9: Answer each question that appears, then press Continue and Go live.
What Accountable does with the file
- Reads every entry, account and vendor, and rebuilds your chart of accounts and history in a draft. Nothing is in your books until you press Go live.
- Checks every month-end, account by account, against your old tool's own numbers and your bank and card statements. A month ties only when the difference is exactly $0.00.
- Asks you about each month that doesn't tie, one question at a time, with the fix it suggests.
- Lets you undo the whole move for 30 days after you go live.
Good to know
- Digits' balance sheet download has at most 12 monthly columns, so a longer history needs one download per year.
- When your workspace shows Connect Digits, you can sign in to Digits instead of uploading a file. If your login reaches several companies, Accountable asks Which Digits company is this?
