Move your books from Pilot
Pilot keeps your books in QuickBooks Online. Ask Pilot to make you primary admin of that QuickBooks file, then export the General Ledger from QuickBooks and upload it.
Before you start
- Export before you cancel Pilot: help after the subscription ends is at Pilot's discretion and billed hourly.
Steps
Step 1: Ask Pilot to make you primary admin of your QuickBooks Online file. Pilot's terms say it hands over primary admin when the bookkeeping subscription ends.
Step 2: Sign in to QuickBooks Online and follow Move your books from QuickBooks Online to export the General Ledger and Account List.
Step 3: If you can't get QuickBooks access yet, upload the Excel file of Pilot's latest monthly financial package, or its general ledger export.
Step 4: In Accountable, press ⌘K and choose Move books from Digits, QuickBooks or a spreadsheet. Pick Move my books, choose Pilot under From and press Continue.
Step 5: On Bring your old books, drop the file on Drop your general ledger here, or choose a file. Add the chart of accounts and bank statements too if you have them.
Step 6: Press Start the move. You can leave the page; the move keeps going.
Step 7: Answer each question that appears, then press Continue and Go live.
What Accountable does with the file
- Reads every entry, account and vendor, and rebuilds your chart of accounts and history in a draft. Nothing is in your books until you press Go live.
- Checks every month-end, account by account, against your old tool's own numbers and your bank and card statements. A month ties only when the difference is exactly $0.00.
- Asks you about each month that doesn't tie, one question at a time, with the fix it suggests.
- Lets you undo the whole move for 30 days after you go live.
Good to know
- Pilot has no public article on exporting its monthly package; ask your Pilot bookkeeper for the Excel file.
