Get every month done and matched to your bank

How a month gets closed, what the automatic close on the 1st does for you, and how to change a month that is already done.

  1. Close a monthThe Close page walks four checks: Book, Reconcile, Adjust and Report. When every check passes, press Lock and the month's numbers stop changing.
  2. How the automatic close on the 1st worksAt 12:05 AM on the 1st, in your company's timezone, the Bookkeeper runs last month's close and hands you one batch. Approve it and the month is closed.
  3. Match an account to its bank statementOn the Close page, open an account under Reconcile, upload the statement or type its ending balance, add anything missing, and press Reconcile.
  4. Change something in a closed monthA closed month is locked. An owner or controller reopens it with a reason, which is logged; make the change and lock the month again.
  5. Set when the close is due and who gets the reportIn Settings › Close, choose whether you lock each month or Accountable locks it automatically, the day the close is due, and who gets the month-end report.
  6. Send the month-end reportEach closed month gets a report page. Edit it, send it by email, or create a read-only link for your CPA or investors.
