Remove a bank account you didn't mean to link

One bank login can bring in several accounts, including personal ones. Turn off each account that isn't this company's in Connections so it stops posting.

Steps

  1. Step 1: Open Connections (Settings › Banks, cards and payroll) and click the account that doesn't belong to this company. Its panel opens.

  2. Step 2: Set Post this account's transactions to Off. It stops posting at once; the other accounts on the same bank login keep going.

  3. Step 3: Do the same for every other account that isn't this company's: a personal account, or another business's.

  4. Step 4: If none of the accounts on that login belong here, press Disconnect at the bottom of the panel instead and confirm.

What happens to transactions it already posted

  • Today, turning an account off or disconnecting stops new transactions; the ones it already posted stay in the books.
  • If you've only just set the company up, the quickest clean start is to delete it (Settings › Your data › Delete this company), add it again, and turn off the accounts that aren't its own straight after linking.
  • Each business with its own accounts belongs in its own company: add it from the company switcher and link the same bank there, keeping only its accounts on.

Good to know

  • When you link a bank, the accounts you share in the bank's window start posting straight away, so share only this company's accounts there.
