In Accountable: ConnectionsUpdated September 29, 2026

Before you start

  • You're an admin on the Mercury account. Only admins can create tokens.

Steps

  1. Step 1: In Accountable, open Connections (Settings › Banks, cards and payroll), press Connect an account and pick Mercury. The dialog Connect Mercury with an API token opens.

  2. Step 2: In Mercury, click your organization's name at the top left and choose All Settings.

  3. Step 3: Open Tokens in the left menu and click Create an API Token.

  4. Step 4: Choose Read Only and create the token. Read-only tokens don't need an IP allowlist.

  5. Step 5: Copy the token. It starts with secret-token:mercury_ and Mercury shows it only once.

  6. Step 6: Back in Accountable, paste it into API token and press Connect. We check it with Mercury before saving and store it encrypted.

  7. Step 7: Every Mercury account (checking, savings, treasury and cards) appears in Connections and starts posting within minutes.

Good to know

  • Mercury deletes a token that goes unused for 45 days. Accountable syncs every day, which keeps it alive.
  • If you delete the token in Mercury, the feed shows Broken. Create a new one and press Reconnect.
